Tesla, which is the leader of electric auto market, has provided their car with auto pilot functionality. I don't know how auto can it be. However, from a TV episode of Korea, seems the car can really drive on its own. In order to show his passionated love to his girlfriend, the actor switched the car into auto pilot in a busy road in order to free his arms to hold and kiss her. You can imagine there must be a very intelligence computer program which detect all the circumstances of the road and determine how it should react. That will trigger another question about that program. In an emergency situation, let's say, in that situation, some people have to be hurt or even died, how should the program choose? Should we consider if he is innocent? Should we consider if it is smaller group? Should we consider the value of the property damaged? What if we can't put a price tag on the good?
The worst part of these question is that there is no right answer. In other word, the right answer is different for different people. Actually, should we consider that our legal system have the same question to answer? What the judge expect the reasonable man to do in such situation? As long as there is no fault or malice on his own, he should let go free on anything happen. Of course, it is reasonable for him to save his own life by scarified the others. Follow the logic, we should have a program setup to scarify anyone life in order to save the driver or passenger.
However, if it is really the case, will there be any reasonable government bodies which let such car operate in any roads of their country?
